While it was confirmed to release soon, the Beastars Final Season is finally confirmed by Netflix to release in 2024.
The announcement was made via the official Netflix Anime Twitter account. There, the show’s release year was confirmed. Though we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see more of the next season.
Beastars Final Season was initially announced back in December 2021. That initial reveal did not feature any specific info about the series. Instead, it only confirmed that Season 3 will be the show’s last, and it showed the official logo.
Now though, a new visual for the upcoming season was released via the official Beastars Twitter account and website.
The visual features the main character, Legosi, illustrated in a hand-drawn style.
On the website, it is confirmed that this final season is directed by Shinichi Matsumi. He served as the director of the previous seasons and is known for being an assistant director in some Studio Ghibli movies, including Porco Rosso and Pom Poko.
Matsumi is joined by screenwriter Nanami Higuchi who also worked on the previous seasons and is known for writing episodes for Little Witch Academia and BNA.
Beastars is a 3DCG anime series by studio Orange, and it is based on the manga of the same name by Paru Itagaki. The manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion from September 2016 to October 2020, and it ran for 196 chapters.
Meanwhile, the anime series started with the first season, which aired in Fall 2019. The second season aired in Winter 2021. Both seasons consist of 12 episodes and were released on streaming by Netflix.
The series is set in a world of anthropomorphic animals where there is a divide between carnivores and herbivores. Its story follows Legosi, a timid gray wolf that studies at Cherryton Academy. There, he is part of the school’s drama club.
One day, the alpaca named Tem is murdered in the school and was devoured, sowing discord between the carnivore and herbivore population.
While this is happening, Legosi encounters Haru, a dwarf rabbit. Soon, Legosi develops feelings for her.
The third season of Beastars is confirmed to release on Netflix in 2024. It will be the show’s final season, though there’s no word yet on a specific release window.
There’s also no information yet regarding how many episodes the series will have.
