During the TUDUM event back in June, Netflix finally gave fans their first proper look at the One Piece live-action series via its first teaser along with the first set of screenshots.

But for those who want to get a better idea of what to expect, an official trailer was shared on Day 2.

What makes this new trailer different is that it’s three minutes long, meaning it’s the meatiest showcase of the show yet.

At the event, the One Piece anime’s voice cast was present to share their thoughts on the live-action series.

After all, Netflix brought back the original VAs of Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji for the show’s Japanese dub.

Finally, a letter from series creator Eiichiro Oda was also shared following the trailer’s release.

In the letter, Oda said that there were “no compromises” in the show, though he did acknowledge that there will be changes.

Aside from new live-action details, One Piece Day ’23 also hyped up the first anime appearance of Luffy’s Gear 5.

Specifically, fans in attendance, both in-person and online, were given a sneak peek at Gear 5’s debut.

While it’s technically a spoiler, Gear 5 has appeared in several manga covers and numerous promotional materials already, so even anime-only fans will likely be familiar with it at this point.

As this is a huge moment in the anime, it was also announced that the One Piece anime will get its first proper ending song in 17 years.

This new ending is titled Raise and is performed by the Japanese band Chilli Beans.

With One Piece Day ’23 being a huge success even outside of Japan, it’ll be interesting to see what the lineup will be for next year’s event, which is expected to happen in July 2024.
