At One Piece Day 2023, a new trailer for One Piece was released, giving fans a proper look at the long-awaited debut of Luffy’s Gear 5 in the anime.
The trailer also confirms the release date of the episode featuring Gear 5, and fans will only need to wait two weeks before seeing Luffy’s most powerful form to date.
Plus, the anniversary event also revealed that the anime will get its first ending song in 17 years along with a new opening theme.

One Piece Is Getting a Brand-New Ending Song in 17 Years
While One Piece has gotten many opening songs over the years, the show has never gotten a unique ending song for well over a decade. But to mark the appearance of Gear 5, it was decided that a new ending will be made.
Specifically, it was announced at One Piece Day 2023 that the popular Japanese band Chilli Beans has been tapped to perform the new ending song that’s titled Raise.
For those who don’t know the band, a likely reason that Chilli Beans was chosen is the fact that Eiichiro Oda revealed before that he’s a big fan of their music.
Alongside the new ending, the event also revealed that the One Piece anime will get a new opening song by the band SEKAI NO OWARI. But unlike the new ending, the title for this new opening hasn’t been revealed yet.
What we do know is that the new ending will debut on August 6, 2023. It’s also possible that the next opening will be revealed on that date.

One Piece Anime Gear 5 Episode Gets an Official Release Date
August 6 will no doubt be a day to remember as that will also be the premiere date of Gear 5 in the One Piece anime.
Episode 1071 of the series will be released on August 6, and it was confirmed via a new trailer that the said episode will feature the proper reveal of Luffy’s Gear 5 form.

While this is technically a spoiler for anime-only fans, at this point, most series fans will likely be familiar with Gear 5 already given that its debut was over a year ago.
Still, it will be exciting to see Gear 5 in full view on August 6, especially considering that it’s one of the most memorable moments of the Wano Country Saga.
