Nintendo Switch Graphics in Trailer May Still Change

If that Nintendo Switch trailer impressed you, there's still fair warning to keep expectations in check.

Even the investors seem to be tempering their expectations of Nintendo's newest console, given how the company's shares did not see any spike following the reveal.

As far as gamers are concerned, the excitement over the Nintendo Switch were focused on two things: how the console worked and how the experience of gaming was, at least based on the trailer.

However, following the subsiding high of the trailer, there's new information following the reveal. And it came from one of the people who were included in the actual reveal trailer. In an interview with GameExplain (via Eurogamer), one of the actors in the trailer revealed that most of the units used were dummy ones.

For that particular section, which was the Splatoon part, Twitch user Dickhiskhan could confirm that the gameplay footage seen in the trailer were added post-production. The little camera trick was actually spotted earlier, as seen in one of the frames wherein the copy-pasting effect is seen in a screengrab. The gameplay goes beyond the Nintendo Switch's screen and onto the player's arm.

Even if this is the case, we can't really put Nintendo in very hot water, since it had put the advisory "Game footage not final, graphics and features subject to change" in the video.

A Nintendo spokesperson replied to Eurogamer, and stated that the goal of the trailer was to show how the game console works as a hybrid.

"This video is all about explaining how the Nintendo Switch works. You shouldn't assume what you saw on the video represents actual game footage and further specifics on first-party games will be provided later."

What are your thoughts on this? Were you surprised about the copy-pasting of gameplay footage post-production?
