In what is an unexpected collaboration, NieR: Automata director Yoko Taro and Soul Eater creator Atsushi Ohkubo have teamed up for an upcoming anime titled KamiErabi GOD.app.

This new anime was announced by Fuji TV just recently, and it is an original series with 3DCG animation.

While many anime fans have reservations about CGI, this show is still promising given the talented main staff members.

Yoko Taro is a popular figure among many gamers, especially after the release of NieR: Automata which became a huge hit when it launched in early 2017.

Automata is not Taro’s first game, though it was easily his biggest mainstream hit given that his previous NieR game and Drakengard titles were more cult hits than blockbuster titles.

Since the Automata game’s release, Taro’s unique brand of storytelling drew more gamers into the NieR series.

While there’s no proper sequel to Automata yet, it did get an anime adaptation from A-1 Pictures that began airing this season.

While Taro is a renowned director, Atsushi Ohkubo is a popular manga creator.

After all, Ohkubo has written several big shounen hits, including Soul Eater and Fire Force. Both titles even received anime adaptations.

GOD.app is the first anime team-up between these two esteemed creators, though the anime is primarily billed as a work by Taro, meaning the show’s concept and creative direction likely come from him.

Meanwhile, Ohkubo is credited as the anime’s main character designer, and it shows based on the main cast’s looks in the reveal trailer.

KamiErabi GOD.App Anime Trailer, Release Date

Fuji TV revealed this original anime yesterday, along with a short trailer as well as the release of its first key visual.

While the anime’s premise wasn’t revealed, it has a tagline that reads “God, the world today is also going crazy.”

The teaser trailer for the series is also rather cryptic as it’s difficult to figure out what the story will exactly be about based on the short clips.

What we can say for certain is that the anime will feature 3DCG animation. It also looks to have a rather dark premise.

Currently, there’s no word yet on a release date for KamiErabi GOD.app, though you can expect to see a proper trailer and more info to be announced soon.
