Niantic is Permanently Banning Pokemon Go Cheaters Because of This Reason

Niantic, developer of Pokemon Go, has finally begun issuing permanent bans to users who they catch cheating, either via systems such as Pokevision or using bots to use the app for them.

The reason of Niantic's shift from soft bans is due to the outcry from the Pokemon Go community that cheaters are breaking the game for everyone. The Reddit page for the game has a number of threads of users who share their grievances with people who are cheating.

A thread with over 500 comments discussed the damage of bots on players' experiences. On the top post, Redditor bbqk said, "If bans don't roll out before trading comes. There's really no point for me to play anymore."

Redditor farrellykw linked an Imgur photo of a man who he claims reached level 35 in a week using bots and spoofs, and has a gang of poweful Dragonites at his disposal.

Another Reddit thread shared the story of Xuan 135. The users said they live in a rural area that has only two Pokestops and one gym. The situation was okay until botters started showing up to overtake the gym with unbeatable Pokemon, which ruined the fun for everyone who played where he lived.

So it seems that the community majorly supports Niantic efforts to perma-ban cheaters. While the amoount of cheaters are significantly much lower than the users who play by the rules, the community still feels that some kind of action needs to be done
