Mike Flanagan has been successful in releasing horror thrillers on Netflix and his new TV series, The Midnight Club, just scored a new Guinness World Record for "most scripted jump scares in a single television episode," making it more exciting to watch.
During the panel of The Midnight Club at the New York Comic Con, Mike Flanagan received a new Guinness World Record for "most scripted jump scares in a single television episode" having 21 jump scares in one episode as reported by Variety.
Making it to the Guinness Book of World Records isn't an easy feat but Mike Flanagan, in a press conference earlier that day, claimed that it is ironic considering he has been asked to add more jump scares, "My whole career, people have been like, 'Put more jump scares in, and do them faster!'"
Flanagan revealed that he didn't really like jump scares which adds to the irony of receiving the accolade, "This is particularly important to me because I hate jump scares and I think they are the worst."
The Midnight Club is a horror mystery-thriller series of Mike Flanagan with Leah Fong as the showrunner and executive producer which is based on the novel of the same name written by Christopher Pike in 1994.
The Midnight Club follows a group of hospice patients who are terminally ill at Rotterdam Home hospice meeting every midnight to listen and tell scary stories to each other, only to realize that such would be the start of something more sinister.
One night, they promised each other that should one of them succumb to their illness, the first to die should communicate other beyond the grave but after such happened, things started to get weird and bizarre occurrences commenced.
Just in time for the Halloween season, The Midnight Club boasts 10 episodes released on Netflix on October 7, 2022.
The Midnight Club stars Iman Benson as Ilonka, Adia as Cheri, Ruth Codd as Anya, Aya Furukawa as Natsuki, Igby Rigney as Kevin, Annarah Cymone as Sandra, Sauriyan Sapkota as Amesh, William Chris Sumpter as Spencer, and Heather Langenkamp as Dr. Georgina Stanton.
The Midnight Club is currently streaming on Netflix.
