With the anime sequel still getting no updates, the My Dress-Up Darling manga has continued to treat fans to new chapters. Soon though, fans will need to wait longer as My Dress-Up Darling will shift to a new release schedule.

Since the manga’s run began, new chapters have been released every two weeks as the magazine it’s serialized in also has a bi-weekly release.

But starting in September, the manga will take double the time to get new chapters. Thankfully, this change will only be temporary.

My Dress-Up Darling began serializing in Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine back in 2018, and since then, the series has gotten a dedicated fanbase thanks to its adorable main duo.

The series’ popularity got a big boost last year when the anime adaptation by CloverWorks (of Horimiya and Wonder Egg Priority fame) was released in the Winter 2022 season.

Despite that season having popular shows like Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer, My Dress-Up Darling became one of the most popular shows thanks in large part to Marin Kitagawa.

High school romance anime are common, but many fans consider Marin Kitagawa to be a breath of fresh air because of her straightforward nature and interest in otaku hobbies.

Typically, school romance anime feature characters that often deny their feelings, so it was a refreshing change to have a character that openly admits her feelings for the main character (at least to herself).

Thanks to the anime’s popularity, the manga also became even more popular, enough that it’s one of the highly promoted titles on Square Enix’s Manga UP! platform.

Latest My Dress-Up Darling Arc Will Switch to Monthly Serialization

The manga entered its current Tenmei arc earlier this year, and while it has continued its original bi-weekly schedule since then, the My Dress-Up Darling manga will soon change to a monthly release.

The shift in schedule was made because the author will draw more pages per chapter to do justice to the ongoing arc. However, this also means more time will be needed to make each chapter.

While the delay isn’t ideal, fans can at least take solace in the fact that each chapter will be meatier than before, so the tradeoff isn’t that bad.

My Dress-Up Darling’s new release schedule will begin on September 15, the release date of Young Gangan Issue 19.
