MTG Commander RC Will Have 'Something Official to Say' Before The Walking Dead Secret Lair Drops

When Wizards of the Coast announced the new crossover Magic: The Gathering product called Secret Lair x The Walking Dead, and that it will feature black-bordered "mechanically unique" cards featuring the iconic characters from AMC's zombie series, many fans on social media expressed their complaints about their decision to print these cards in black-border since it's a product that will only be available for preorder for a week exclusively on the official Secret Lair website.

Since there will only be a short supply, there will be increased demand between players and collectors, and Wizards probably won't be able to reprint the The Walking Dead cards due to licensing limitations.

On Monday, Commander Rules Committee founding member Sheldon Menery said that the Commander RC will have something official to say in the near future, and that will be before the new Secret Lair x The Walking Dead will be available for preorder.

The Commander RC usually decides any rules changes or what Magic cards are banned or restricted in the Commander format, so they might ban the cards featured in Secret Lair x The Walking Dead.

Recently, Magic head designer Mark Rosewater responded to the complaints, explaining that if these cards become popular in Eternal formats, there's a possibility that Wizards may print the Magic version (same card mechanically, but with a Magic name and art) of the Secret Lair cards in any number of future products

Secret Lair x The Walking Dead will be available for preorder on October 4-12 on secretlair.wizards.com for $49.99/£49.99/€54.99.
