Everyone who watched Moon Knight Episode 4 are still in shock as to everything that happened, especially by the end of the run where the setting changed from the tomb of Alexander the Great to a psychiatric facility. This change happened when Harrow buried two bullets in Marc’s chest. So, is he and Steven in the afterlife?
Moon Knight Episode 4: Is Marc/ Steven in the Afterlife?
The afterlife plays a huge role in the Egyptian myths. The ancient Egyptians believe that life on Earth is but one part of the journey and when death happens, it is the start of one’s path to eternal life with the soul traveling into everlasting joy. After death, the soul is believed to go through various passages and their status indicates their route.
For Steven and Marc, after their physical body got shot, his soul seems to float down through a vast nothingness only to wake up in a psychiatric facility where faces, places, and things in his life are present. The majority of the place is white, something associated to heaven. While it is an uncanny representation, this may be the afterlife for him.
This theory solidifies with the presence of Taweret, the Egyptian goddess of childbirth and fertility. See, the Egyptians believe that there is rebirth, thought to come back to life through the Mother Goddess’ womb. Taweret appearing in the final scene speaks volumes on where Marc/ Steven is, she could be the key on how the titular character could come back to life.

Taweret is a known ally of Hathor. Yatzil, the avatar of Hathor, told Marc that the goddess of music and love had history with Khonshu who enjoyed her melodies. This, somehow, shows that Hathor and Khonshu are allies, as well as Taweret and Khonshu. With Marc/ Steven being on the brink of death, yet again, Taweret could bring him back to life, possibly making him her avatar or through rebirth.
Whether Taweret would revive Marc/ Steven, she is set to appear in the last two episodes of the show, possibly being a pivotal character until the end and giving an answer to the question of where the titular character really is. After all, Taweret is not pulled off of the comics so they have the liberty to put the goddess to use in the narrative as freely as they can.
Moon Knight Episode 4 is now streaming on Disney Plus where it would be available on the service in the highest streaming quality, 4K. Episode 5 arrives at 3 AM EST on April 27, 2022.
