There are a lot of things that confuse many when Moon Knight Episode 4 came out because it took everyone from the sands of Egypt to a mental institution and the connection between the two has a huge disparity but what really made an impression to the viewers is the Egyptian Hippopotamus in the end. She seems nice but Marc and Steven screamed at her. Who is she, anyway?
Moon Knight Episode 4: Who is the Egyptian Hippopotamus in the End?
In Moon Knight Episode 4, after Harrow show Marc to the chest with two bullets and he fell into the waters behind Alexander the Great’s sarcophagus, everyone was taken into a mental institution afterwards where all the other characters, relics, and places Marc/ Steven has been in from the previous episodes are there either as patients or workers in the facility, or displays and Harrow seems to be the head psychiatrist of the institution.
Marc meets Steven in the mental institution, coming out of a sarcophagus and both of them remember being shot by Harrow. As they try to escape, they came across another sarcophagus with someone violent inside, possibly Jake Lockley, a third persona. Before they reach the exit, they encounter an Egyptian Hippopotamus who said hi, in a really sweet and nice way but they screamed at her. (If you see a hippo and it said hi, you’d scream, too, no matter how nice it is.)
Taweret, the Egyptian hippopotamus goddess they saw, is an ally of Khonshu’s ally, Hathor. Taweret is the goddess of childbirth and fertility, the protector of women in their pregnancy. She has no comic book counterpart which means that the creators of the show had a liberty to do anything with her character and it is highly possible that she would play a huge role in reviving Marc/ Steven.

How would Taweret be helpful in this situation? Well, to start, Marc/ Steven is on the brink of death and the first goddess they see is that of childbirth and fertility. It could mean rebirth for the titular character and knowing that allies have to stick together in these kinds of situations, Tawerent may possibly be the closest goddess to reach Marc/ Steven and cause him to come back to life.
Moon Knight Episode 4 is now streaming on Disney Plus where it would be available on the service in the highest streaming quality, 4K. Episode 5 arrives at 3 AM EST on April 27, 2022.
