Her debut is yet to arrive, in the first episode, only her voice was heard but she is already making waves in the show as she baffles Steven Grant of his true identity when she called him a different name. Moon Knight actress May Calamawy plays Layla, the love interest of Marc Spector, and she shares which MCU star she would like to meet.
In an interview with Screenrant, May Calamawy shared how is it to be Layla in Moon Knight and she was pretty candid when asked who among the MCU stars would she want to meet, she shared, “I'd love to meet Florence Pugh because I really respect her.”
Calamawy also has nothing but praise for Scarlett Johansson who played Black Widow in the franchise, “I have a lot of respect for Scarlett Johansson because she started this when it was all men, and that's not easy. She's another person I'd love to meet. I like all the women. I'm like, "I want to meet them." Calamawy added that she loves one character so she wants to meet the person behind the gentle giant, “And then... I love Korg, so Taika.”

To date, Calamawy appeared in various teasers for Moon Knight as Layla and it shows how complicated her relationship is with Marc Spector. Oscar Isaac confirmed that Layla and Marc are married and in the tone of Layla in the first episode of Moon Knight, their relationship is really rocky as she literally said they haven’t talked for a long time and she kept calling him but to no avail.
Given that Steven and Marc are two different personalities and Steven being unaware of the latter, he is, of course, baffled. First, he saw his fish get two fins, then he realized he lost more than two days of his life, found a phone hidden behind a plank inside his flat, saw that there are only two persons on the call log which is Layla and Duchamp, and called Layla only to be called by her as Marc and interrogated as to what happened to him.
With Layla coming into the picture in the next episodes, there is hope that light would be shed on the mysterious life that Marc Spector has been living and how Steven Grant ended up like that in the first place. It’s complicated, that is for sure.
