Meghan Markle earned a slew of offensive nicknames shortly after she joined the royal family. Even though she was married to Prince Harry, a lot of critics disrespected her and called her Duchess Difficult. She was also accused of being a diva, and multiple tabloids accused her of being a boss from hell.
Meghan Markle Upset Staffers While Working As An Actress, Commercial Model In Canada
In the book Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors, Tom Bower detailed some instances where Meghan Markle seemingly acted like a real diva.
One of his first stories about Markle’s allegedly difficult ways involved director Jean Malek, who reportedly said that the Duchess of Sussex is the meanest person he has ever met. Malek posted his comments on Instagram years ago.
According to Bower’s book, Prince Harry’s wife wanted to incorporate some changes to the script of her 2016 commercial in Canada.
“Seriously, this doesn’t make sense! I’m a brash American and if my name is going to be on something, I’m going to have my say,” Markle allegedly said (via Cheat Sheet).
According to Bower, the arguments between Markle and Malek escalated on March 14 after some changes were made, only to be rejected by the duchess again.
“She bulldozed her way through,’ complained one of the team. No one stood up to her. That evening, [film director John] Grammatico emailed [ad agency] Tank’s creative director. Meghan, Grammatico suggested, was not completely wrong. The agency was focusing the commercial on Reitmans’ label and the dress. Like all stars, Meghan wanted the focus to be on herself. She needs to be flattered and she’s right. Celebrities want to be the hero. The solution was to put Meghan in charge because she’s beautiful and famous and she’s in control. The script was rewritten by Grammatico,” Bower wrote.

Meghan Markle Complained About The Paparazzi, Size Of Her Hotel Room
But this isn’t where the drama surrounding Markle ended. Bower also claimed that Prince Harry’s wife complained about the size of her hotel room. And she also wanted to be booked at the hotel under the alias because she didn’t want to be photographed by the paparazzi.
“Meghan doesn’t want to be hassled by the hotel staff, other guests, or photographers. The production team was flummoxed. No one in French-speaking Montreal really knew Meghan. In the event, the hotel refused the request. No paparazzi gathered outside the hotel,” Bower wrote.
Meghan Markle Sarcastically Dubbed ‘Princess’ By Those, She Worked With
And even before she married Prince Harry, some of the staff at the studio already referred to Markle as the princess because of the way she acted.
“The Princess is coming,’ sniggered one assistant as, hard-faced, Meghan arrived on set, avoiding eye contact with the crew. She was always fed up,’ one crew member noted, ‘sighing, huffing, and rolling her eyes at things. It was heavy-going working with her.’ Another claimed that she would be ‘super sweet’ with [her hairdresser] Felix and [make-up artist] Marco and then within seconds turn to the crew and be ‘super-disagreeable,’” Bower said.
As of writing, Markle has not responded to the allegations made by Bower in his new book. But the author stressed during his interview with Good Morning Britain that his book isn’t biased against the Duchess of Sussex (via Express).
