Meghan Markle claimed in her interview with Oprah Winfrey that it was Kate Middleton who made her cry. However, British author and investigative journalist Tom Bower claimed in his new book that Prince Harry's wife indeed made their sister-in-law cry, and Prince William was reportedly relieved to know the subject was covered in the book, rectifying Markle's allegations against the Duchess of Cambridge.
Prince William Reportedly Relieved That A New Book Rectified What Meghan Markle Said About Kate Middleton
Neil Sean, a royal commentator and reporter who has been featured on Fox News, Sky News Australia, NBC News, MSNBC and Access Hollywood, shared Prince William's alleged response to Bower's new book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors. On his YouTube channel, Sean shared the response to Bower's new tome, and he said that the Duke of Cambridge was grateful that it rectified Markle's statement against his wife.
"Prince William is truly grateful, according to a very good source, that the rectification of this story has now come to light," Sean claimed. "[The members of the royal family] always knew the true version of events, but the British monarchy [doesn't] come out and explain or complain."
Sean added, "I truly believe Prince William himself will be very, very relieved that at least the true version of events has come out."
The original story claimed that Markle made Middleton cry which the former actress denied during her interview with Winfrey. Sean said that several people backed up the original report, including celebrity Kirstie Allsopp.
Meghan Markle Claimed Kate Middleton Made Her Cry
Six months after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot, a report from the Daily Telegraph claimed that Kate Middleton was reduced to tears during a disagreement with Markle over flower girl dresses. Prince William and Middleton's daughter Princess Charlotte was among the entourage.
During Markle's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey for a CBS special, she denied the report and even claimed that "the reverse happened."
"The narrative with Kate, which didn’t happen, was really, really difficult and something that I think, that’s when everything changed, really," Markle said.
"No," Prince Harry's wife said when Winfrey directly asked if she made Middleton cry. "No, no, the reverse happened."
Markle didn't go into details. She also clarified that she didn't mean to disparage Middleton and had already forgiven the Duchess of Cambridge. However, she shared some context about the misunderstanding, confirming that it was about the bridesmaid dresses.

"A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining—yes, the issue was correct about flower girl dresses, and it made me cry and it really hurt my feelings, and I thought in the context of everything else that was going on in those days leading to the wedding that it didn’t make sense to not be just doing what everyone else was doing, which was try to be supportive, knowing what was going on with my dad and whatnot," Markle said, per Elle. "There wasn’t a confrontation, and I actually think it’s...I don’t think it’s fair to her to get into the details of that because she apologized and I’ve forgiven her. "
"What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn’t do, but that happened to me and the people that were a part of my wedding going to my comms team, saying, I know this didn’t happen. I don't have to tell them what actually happened, but I can at least go on the record saying, ‘She didn't make her cry,’" Markle continued.

"Everyone in the institution knew it wasn't true. I'm not sharing that piece about Kate in any way to be disparaging to her. I think it's really important for people to understand the truth, but also I think a lot of it that was fed into by the media. Look, I would hope that she would've wanted that corrected. And maybe in the same way that the Palace wouldn't let anybody else negate it, they wouldn't let her, because she's a good person, and I think so much of what I have seen play out was this idea of polarity where if you love me you don't have to hate her, and if you love her, you don’t need to hate me."
Meanwhile, Bower's book Revenge (per the Daily Mail) claimed that the two duchesses couldn't agree about the length of Princess Charlotte's hemline or the fit of her dress. They also have a different stand on whether bridesmaids "should wear tights" at the wedding.
According to Bower, Middleton "burst into tears" after Markle "unfavorably" compared Princess Charlotte to her best friend Jessica Mulroney's daughter, Isabel.
