Fast food and anime collabs may not be commonplace in the US, but it’s a regular thing in Japan.

After all, we saw the Spy x Family and Burger King crossover in mid-2022. Even McDonald’s got a Gundam-themed ad a few months back.

Now, the fast food giant shared its One Piece collab with two new burgers: the Rice Chicken Tatsuta and the yuzu radish Rice Chicken Tatsuta.

Fittingly, the burgers are promoted by Sanji and Zeff, the two Baratie chefs.

These two burgers are twists on McDonald’s Chicken Tatsuta burger which features a ginger and soy sauce-flavored chicken patty.

While the insides remain unchanged, the special One Piece burgers have special buns that are made with premium Niigata koshihikari rice.

The new burgers are not the only One Piece-themed menu items in the collab though as Luffy is also there to promote the standard Tatsuta burgers that use wheat buns.

Straw Hat Crew Invades McDonald’s in New Ad Series

To further promote the new burgers, McDonald’s released two ads that highlight the new rice burgers as well as the standard Tatsuta burgers.

The first ad promotes the rice burgers, and it features the Straw Hat Crew in Wano as they try out this new sandwich.

Though as expected, Luffy loves it so much that he eats Sanji’s share.

Meanwhile, the advertisement for the standard Tatsuta burgers features a recreation of the iconic One Piece opening.

But instead of One Piece, it features the word “McDonald’s” in the intro.

Finally, McDonald’s Japan has a promo where fans can tweet reply to the official Twitter account and get to win a special Mac card worth JPY 1,000 (around USD 7).

These new One Piece burgers will be available in all Mickey Ds outlets in Japan beginning on April 19, 2023.

However, they will only be available for a limited time. Plus, the rice burgers will only be available after 5:00 PM every day.
