What Happened in Marvel's What If..? Episode 3?
In Marvel's What If..?, Episode 3, What If… the World Lost its Mightiest Heroes?, it has been a devastating run as in this alternate reality, the Avengers never got the chance to band together when they were targeted by an assassin in pursuit of revenge. Nick Fury and Natasha Romanoff were still building the team when one by one, all of them faced their demise.
It was Tony Stark who had to go first when he was killed in what seems to be like an accident when Black Widow administered him a drug to help him be calm. Thor came in second when he was just about to get the Mjolnir and Clint Barton was stationed to look out for him when Hawkeye seemed to have dislodged his bow and put an arrow to the heart of the Asgardian prince.
Then it was Clint Barton who was sealed in a locked room where there was no way he could not go unnoticed. The death of Thor angered Loki who came down from Asgard bringing a tenfold of men ready to kill whoever is responsible for the death of Thor. They made a deal with the God of Mischief to find who really killed the guy Coulson calls the one with wonderful hair.

Natasha went into hiding after escaping the convoy or Rumlow and she sought Betty Ross for answers for the death of Stark. There, Bruce Banner was in hiding but when General Ross found out that the big green guy was there, they approached him only to have something attack him and lead him to his death by exploding.
It was Natasha who died last. She found out that it was Hank Pym all along when she realized that an already dead agent, Hope Van Dyne, accessed the files. It turns out she was the daughter of Hank Pym and when all hope is lost for Fury, he made a deal with Loki to defeat the person responsible for the death of his brother.
By the end of the episode, Nick Fury did not waste any time as he picks the last of his straw, have the captains build a new team of Avengers: Captain America who is the first Avenger buried in ice, and the woman behind the name of the initiative, Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel.
Marvel's What If..? Episode 4 Theories, Spoilers, and Leaks
It seems that the arc of Loki does not stop there as he commands the people of Earth as if they were his own, especially considering that he was the main reason why the Avengers came together in the first place in the original timeline. The next episode is expected to circle around Doctor Strange and how he was drawn into the darkness.
As for Episode 3, it seems that the story is not yet over considering that the arrival of Captain Marvel by the end of the episode was a cliffhanger. It was also shown that the shield of Captain America is still under ice and it is possible that he would be arriving in the glory of his suit in this alternate timeline.
