Marvel Wants to Make a TV Show Starring Squirrel Girl

Marvel is looking to make a New Warriors TV show with the unbeatable Squirrel Girl as the lead, TV Line reports. The New Warriors are a squad of teenagers described as a "junior version of the Avengers". Doreen Green, a.k.a. Squirrel Girl, would be a member of this team.

Both Marvel and ABC studios are interested in the series according to sources, though both organizations declined to comment when TV Line asked. Supposedly both groups are looking at several networks while trying to find the series a home right now. The New Warriors series would be a comedy and is described a "half-hour" project.

This isn't the first time anyone's expressed interest in a live-action version of Squirrel Girl. Anna Kendrick said she's be interested in the role. I wonder if she'd be up for a TV series?

Squirrel Girl has the power to communicate with squirrels in addition to super-strength and speed. She is currently starring in her own solo comic, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, written by Dinosaur Comics' Ryan North. Despite her powers mostly being squirrel-based, the comedic hero has taken down the likes of Dr. Doom with ease.

I'd love to see a comedy with Squirrel Girl as the lead. What about you? Would you like to see this New Warriors show in all its squirelly glory?
