Black Panther 2: Marvel Made A 200-Page Bible For Namor’s Kingdom of Talokan

No matter how much a film adaptation tries to fit every single detail from its original source material, it will undoubtedly lead to chaos and information overload to its audience, defeating its purpose of entertaining the fans. However, Marvel made sure to create their very own keepsake to keep track of Namor’s kingdom of Talokan in their own terms for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. And how did they do that? By making a 200-page Bible of everything there is to know about Namor’s underwater palace.

Speaking with SlashFilm, Weta VFX supervisor Chris White explained that Marvel had to create a 200-page Bible of Talocan kingdom for the sake of paying attention to even the smallest detail of Namor’s palace. Read the full excerpt below:

“Talokan is a massive, massive city, and it has multiple cities that are around it as well. [T]his was my first Marvel project, but as we first got on, there was a production bible of just Talokan, and it was 200 pages full of their history, their tools they built, their architecture, the influence, how they traveled through Central America.”

The excerpt goes on to note how despite its short screen time, the appreciation of details is no short of contributing its importance to the sequel. In fact, the so-called “bible” extends not only to its culture and history, but also its battle strategies and how they came through Central America.

“It’s amazing how extensive that story was that they had created. It may go by in like four minutes or so, but they’ve thought through so much, even as we first joined in. Just like everything, the culture — very extensive.”
