Time flies really fast as it has been a year since Sam Wilson embraced his destiny and officially assumed the title of Captain America in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier which follows the events when Steve Rogers passed the shield to Anthony Mackie’s character. With this, Marvel fans celebrate the new hero’s first year anniversary on social media.
After the events of Endgame with Steve Rogers returning as an old man, he passed his shield to his friend Sam Wilson to be the new Captain America but he never embraced the role and responsibility given to him until the finale of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier where finally, he officially took the mantle and embodied everything that comes with the shield.
The finale of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, “One World, One People,” arrived on Disney Plus on April 23 which makes it the first anniversary of Sam Wilson as the new Captain America. In the said episode, Sam finally reveals his new suit which matches the color of the shield and he stands up to the people just as Steve Rogers would do.
Sam Wilson was hesitant, at first, whether to accept the world on his shoulders after Steve Rogers decided to hand him the shield and the series showed how he decided on it back-and-forth. It wasn’t until the government decided that someone else has to be the new Captain America when Sam realized it should have been him all along.

Sam Wilson’s future in the MCU is huge and it was announced last year that he will be starring in his own film, Captain America 4. The movie is still under pre-production and it is yet to be announced when it will start filming.
