Anthony Mackie's near-decade Marvel stint has finally been rewarded earlier this year when his character Sam Wilson aka The Falcon finally embraced his destiny as Captain America. It's clear that the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Four will be home to several changes and what better way to change the guard than to give Mackie the spotlight now that Chris Evans is no longer portraying Cap.

When The Falcon and the Winter Soldier aired its finale episode, rumors circulated online that Marvel Studios has greenlit a Captain America 4 project seeing Mackie on the lead. Yesterday, news finally broke out confirming that Marvel Studios and Anthony have signed the dotted line to begin working on the sequel.

Marvel fans are still rejoicing following the exciting confirmation but no other person could be more pumped up about it than Mackie's on-and-off screen buddy Sebastian Stan who plays Captain America's trusted ally in the MCU. Taking to social media, Stan reposted Deadline's report and it's pretty safe to say that he can't contain his excitement. Check it out here:

Quite frankly, Mackie's casting didn't need confirmation because we've all seen it coming anyway. I mean, Marvel Studios would be foolish not to capitalize on the hype surrounding Sam Wilson finally taking on the role of Captain America, and the perfect avenue for him to continue his exploits as the Star-Spangled Avengers is definitely on the big-screen.

Meanwhile, all episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are available for streaming on Disney+.
