After the series aired in the Summer of 2022 on limited streaming platforms, Toonami recently announced that it will air Made in Abyss Season 2 this November.
The series airing on Toonami was announced via the programming block’s Facebook page. There, details about the upcoming November anime lineup were detailed.
Made in Abyss Season 2 Initial Release
In case you’re unfamiliar, Made in Abyss is an anime series by Kinema Citrus based on the ongoing manga of the same name by Akihito Tsukushi.
The manga began serialization in Web Comic Gamma in October 2012, and its run is ongoing. Though, unlike most manga, this title does not have a regular schedule.
The anime began with the first season which aired in 2017. This was followed by the movie entitled Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul which was released in Japanese cinemas in January 2020.
As for its premise, the series begins in Orth, a town located beside a massive hole in the earth called the Abyss. It is filled with dangerous monsters and treasures from bygone civilizations.
The story follows Riko, an orphan girl whose goal is to explore the Abyss as a cave raider like her mother. She aims to find her mother who is believed to have died in the Abyss.
Before Riko begins her journey, she meets Reg, a mysterious robot that looks like a little boy.
Season 2 of the anime is officially entitled Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun. Its story directly follows the anime movie.
It also follows the main trio and introduces a host of new characters.

Made in Abyss Season 2 Toonami Release Date
Made in Abyss Season 2 will air on November 6, 2022, at 12:30 AM Eastern Time on Toonami.
Based on the announcement, it’s likely that each episode of the second season will air weekly, though there’s no official schedule yet for its Toonami airing.
Aside from Made in Abyss, Toonami also confirmed that it will broadcast other anime, including My Hero Academia Season 5, One Piece, Naruto: Shippuden, and more.
In Summer 2022, Made in Abyss Season 2 was not released on Crunchyroll. Instead, the series was released on HIDIVE in North America and on Muse in select parts of Asia.
