Lucasfilm Reveals Runtime for Indiana Jones 5

This summer, Harrison Ford is donning the fedora one last time in the upcoming film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The actor has confirmed that it will be his swan song as the famed archeologist and, based on the trailers that they released so far, the film has the potential to go out with a big bang.

Just like any other film that gets released, fans are also curious about the runtime of the upcoming film. Are we going to spend a lot of time on Indiana Jones' final adventure? Will it be shorter than usual? Fortunately, we now have the answer from the film's producer herself.

In an interview with Collider, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that the runtime of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be around 2 hours and 22 minutes, which will make it the longest film in the saga and perhaps appropriate since it is the character's swan song.

"It’s around two hours and 22-23 minutes. I will say that the early movies were shorter. They were under two hours and 15 minutes. And we talked about that quite a bit. But as you know, with runtime, it’s all about how you feel, right? So, if you’re sitting in a movie, and it feels long...," she said.

"The reason this is interesting is because long-form storytelling is something that we like in the streaming space. So, I think it might be that it’s some kind of carry over from that. But God knows, this year there were so many three hour-plus movies that I felt I wasn’t getting any work done, trying to see them!"

We have been accustomed recently to tentpole films getting longer runtimes so it is not surprising that the upcoming Indiana Jones film will have its longest one yet and it plays around the same runtime as most blockbusters that we've seen recently.

Obviously, we will never know until we see the film in its entirety whether the runtime that they set works or whether it is either shorter or longer than it should. However, with James Mangold involved as the director, we can give them the benefit of the doubt that they might have made the right decision.
