Indiana Jones 5 to Premiere at Cannes Film Festival

This coming summer, Indiana Jones is set to embark on his final adventure in the upcoming film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Harrison Ford is back to don the fedora and whip alongside both familiar and new characters who will tag along with him. Ever since the film's announcement, there has been a lot of excitement about how the beloved archeologist's sendoff will deliver.

The film is also among the various titles that are set to dominate the summer movie season and it is expected to be a huge hit at the box office. Now, we have an exciting update on its release as it looks like it might debut at what is considered to be the most prestigious film festival in the world.

According to Variety, Disney is planning to premiere Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. While nothing official has been set yet, the festival has invited the studio to have the upcoming film become part of the lineup.

If the film does end up joining the festival, it is likely that it will premiere on either the second day (May 17) or the third day (May 18). Last year, Top Gun: Maverick also premiered early during the festival and it ended up becoming a huge box office hit as it grossed almost $1.5 billion and garnered six Oscar nominations including Best Picture.

James Mangold directed the film. The cast also includes Phoeve Waller-Bridge, John Rhys-Davies, Antonio Banderas, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Oliver Richters, Ethann Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg are involved as executive producers.

The film's potential premiere at Cannes Film Festival is a promising sign of its quality since the festival is known as an avenue for showing well-regarded movies and it sounds like Disney is confident enough which is why they are in talks to become part of the festival. Let's just wait and see whether this ends up happening.
