Lars Mikkelsen Didn't Revisit Star Wars Rebels for Ahsoka

It's no secret that Lars Mikkelsen is one of the reasons why people are looking forward to Ahsoka. However, the Star Wars Rebels actor revealed he didn't have to revisit the animated series to prepare for his return as Grand Admiral Thrawn in the upcoming live-action show.

Lars Mikkelsen was previously confirmed to reprise his role as Thrawn in Ahsoka although he had repeatedly denied that he would play the character in the Star Wars series. Interestingly, the Sherlock actor also revealed that he "wanted to create something new" with Thrawn's live-action debut.

"He's a top strategist," Mikkelsen said in the latest episode of the Dagobah Dispatch podcast. "He's always seven paces ahead of anybody else. And ruthless, of course. But only when it's needed, actually."

"I think he thrives also with the creativity of the surroundings," he added. "I mean, he's not using people in a bad way. He's using their creativity to reach his goals."

He may have denied being involved in Ahsoka but Lars Mikkelsen admitted he was deeply moved by the fans' reaction when he finally showed up at Star Wars Celebration.

"It was a very emotional moment that I didn't expect to have," Mikkelsen said. "But I think there's a lot of love to be taken care of from the audience. And I felt enormous gratitude. It was amazing. Never tried anything like that."

It's certainly an exciting experience and seeing Lars Mikkelsen as the live-action Thrawn is something to truly look forward to. With that in mind, we can't wait for the premiere of Ahsoka later this year.

Ahsoka will also star Rosario Dawson, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Hayden Christensen, Ivanna Sakhno, and the late Ray Stevenson. The series will consist of eight episodes and is currently scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in August 2023.
