Kit Harington Diet And Exercise: Know How The Game Of Thrones Star Maintained His Jon Snow Body

Kit Harington may reprise his role as Jon Snow in the newly-announced sequel to the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. As fans may again see the fan-favorite bastard from the North, know the diet and exercise he used to follow to perfectly play his role.

Kit Harington played the role of Jon Snow for the show's eight seasons, from 2011 to 2019. Several years later, it looks like the heir to the throne will again conquer the small screen. So, will he follow the same diet and workout that he did before?

The Need for Kit Harington to Stay Active

Jon Snow's role required the now-35-year-old star to have high fitness levels. He had a lot of fight scenes and rode horses and dragons.

He also donned heavy armor that needed body strength, along with waving a sword around.

So, how did he maintain his fitness level? Express noted he had to stay active while doing the series.

"The physical stuff is very much a part of who Jon Snow is and over the four years, I've got into rock climbing, ice climbing, sword fighting and horse riding," he said. "Lots of cable routines that would allow his body a fuller range of movement because he would have to take that sword around the head."

The Exercises Kit Harington Did

Celebrity trainer and The Feelgood Plan author Dalton Wong focused on compound exercises that mimicked the actor's on-set moves to get him in shape that could fight White Walkers.

"We were doing a lot of full-body movements, rather than the typical isolation exercises," he revealed, per Men's Journal. "Lots of cable routines that would allow his body a fuller range of movement because he would have to take that sword around the head."

He also concentrated on his strength-training workouts to hone the largest muscle groups in his body, like the back, glutes and legs. This workout was intense enough that it could also work out as cardio.

In this set, he had to do 45 minutes to an hour of lateral lunges, deadlifts and upper body push and pull movements.

He also had to do knee hugs, thread the needles and lunge stretch for the warm-up. For the workout itself, he needed to do pendulum lunge, weighted push-up rows, lateral dumbbell lunge and kneeling curl and press.

Kit Harington may Reprise Game of Thrones Role

Meanwhile, Hollywood Reporter revealed a sequel to HBO's hit fantasy drama, Game of Thrones, which is now in early development.

Kit Harington is reportedly set to reprise his role as Jon Snow in the live-action spin-off series centered on his character. According to reports, it will take place after the events of the series' final season.

Anyhow, HBO and the actor's representatives are yet to give the word about the said project.

If this pushes through, it will reveal the fate of the Emmy-winning series' surviving character, opening the door for the return of the original cast.

It has been known that Jon Snow went beyond The Wall with the wildlings after being exiled from Westeros. It may also give a glimpse into the future of his half-siblings, Arya (Maisie Williams) and Sansa (Sophie Turner).

HBO may extend George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones universe beyond the source material.
