King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton posed for a new photo during Queen Elizabeth’s pre-funeral dinner on Sept. 18. The photo taken by Chris Jackson was just shared on social media, and it drew different comments from royal fans.

The snap shows King Charles III and Prince William wearing a black and white suits, while their wives are donning all-black dresses. Since the photo was taken the night before the queen’s funeral, some royal fans were surprised that the royal couples were even able to smile for the cameras.
“They were in mourning but they were smiling,” Twitter user @mywordsworlds1 commented.
After seeing the snaps, some royal fans said that the picture showcases the present and the future of the monarchy. After all, King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla serve as the current king and queen. And Prince William and Middleton will later take over their jobs.
“OMG what a wonderful surprise. The present and future of the Monarchy are looking so good,” Twitter user @lovefamilywales wrote.
Others also described Camilla and Middleton as stunning in their outfits. But there were also a few criticisms left and right.

Did King Charles III Take A Leaf Out Of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s Book?
One royal fan claimed that King Charles III finally took a leaf out of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s book because his arm is wrapped around Camilla’s waist in the photo.
In the past, it has been quite rare for the public to see King Charles III engage in sweet gestures or even PDAs with his wife.
“I see that Charles and Camilla have taken a leaf from Harry and Meghan's book by holding each other instead of that stiff cold robotic pose they are expected to do. You go, Meg and Harry,” Twitter user @KeepMeTrueL wrote.
Royal Family Criticized After New Portrait Was Released
Others also called the couples a colonialist family, while others dubbed them grifters. Some royal fans also claimed that the picture was another snub at Prince Harry and Markle, who were not included.
“Another snub of Harry and Meghan. So rude,” Twitter user @JamesReindeer said.
However, more people praised the royal couples after seeing their newest photo.
“Looking at the pic, Charles and Camilla. Lovely couple. Charles loves indeed. They should get married earlier, but then Britain will not have William and Kate, maybe another version of Camilla. What a story of destiny. Tribute to Diana to give Britain a remarkable heir,” Twitter user @SarahMy90958874 wrote.
“Another enjoyable photo from the royal family and everybody looks pretty,” Twitter user @Julietseismolog wrote.
