Prince George may only be 9 years old, but he already has an understanding not only of his dad's future role as King but also of his important position when he gets older. Following Queen Elizabeth's death, Prince George was bumped up to the number two spot in the Order of Succession.
Prince George Reminded His Classmates That Prince William Will Be King One Day
According to royal author Katie Nicholl, Prince George gave some of his classmates whom he didn't necessarily get along with a cheeky warning in school. He warned them and reminded them that his dad, Prince William would one day be the King of Britain.
"My dad will be king so you better watch out," she wrote in The New Royals (via Page Six).

Prince George Knows That He Will Also Be King One Day
Nicholl also said that Prince George's awareness about his dad's future role, as well as his, is owed to the fact that Prince William and Kate Middleton already had a talk with him when he turned 7 years old.
"They are raising their children, particularly Prince George, with an awareness of who he is and the role he will inherit, but they are keen not to weigh them down with a sense of duty," Nicholl said.

In the book Battle of Brothers, royal biographer Robert Lacey also said a similar thing about Prince George. He claimed that the Prince and Princess of Wales had already told Prince George that he will one day become King. However, the royal couple continues to raise their eldest child as normal as possible.
"Maybe one day George will tell us the story himself. But sometime around the boy's seventh birthday in the summer of 2020, it is thought that his parents went into more detail about what the little prince's life of future royal 'service and duty' would particularly involve. William's aim as a father, the prince stressed, was to give his son a normal family upbringing, enabling the monarchy to stay relevant and keep up with modern times," Lacey wrote (via Daily Mail).
According to the royal biographer, the fact that Prince William's decision to sit down and have a conversation with Prince George proved that he was not necessarily thrilled about their future role. However, Prince William and Prince George do not have much choice since they are in line to sit on the throne.
When Prince William was much younger, he reportedly verbalized his dislike for his future role. And his comment led Prince Harry to say that he would gladly take on the top job.
"About a year before she died, her secretary rang me up and asked me to lunch. I've no idea why. She was stunningly glamorous, as you can imagine. We talked about our children and she said William often told her that he didn't really want to be King, and then Harry would say, 'If you don't want the job I'll have it,'" Jeremy Paxman said (via Express).
