Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were demoted from the royal family website last week, and even though it was predicted to happen one way or another after Queen Elizabeth’s death, some royal experts still called it a “snub.”

King Charles III’s Decision To Demote Prince Harry And Meghan Markle From The Royal Website Was Expected

However, royal biographer Angela Levin said that it was expected of King Charles III to demote Prince Harry and Meghan Markle because they no longer work for the royal family. As such, nothing is expected from the couple.

Levin also called the move a careful statement from King Charles III.

“I thought it was a very careful statement. The fact is that what they are doing is zero - it just shows people what they’re not doing and how valuable that is in the Royal Family. I think putting Harry down there at the bottom is a sort of safety valve - you don’t expect anything from them,” Levin said (via 7news.com.au).

Was Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s Demotion A Snub?

Prior to this, royal editor for Daily Mail Richard Eden called Prince Harry and Markle’s demotion an insult to the couple.

“To add insult to injury, there is now only one member of the family below them — and that’s Prince Andrew, who stepped back from royal duties after the scandal over his links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. I hope this doesn’t go down badly in Montecito. The change has been made because the Duke and Duchess are no longer working royals, unlike those who now appear above them,” he said.

King Charles III Has Not Decided On Archie, Lilibet’s Royal Titles

Other than Prince Harry and Markle’s names being placed at the bottom of the royal family website, there are also ongoing talks regarding the royal titles of their children, Archie and Lilibet.

Even though it’s been almost a month since the queen died, King Charles III still has not made an official decision regarding the royal titles of his grandchildren.

Some royal experts and royal fans were expecting that the announcement would be made after the end of the mourning period. However, the monarch continues to be mum on the matter.

As the King of Britain, it was supposed to be customary for Archie and Lilibet to be styled as prince and princess. But because the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had already quit their royal duties, bestowing the youngsters’ royal titles could not happen automatically.

According to royal author Katie Nicholl, Archie and Lilibet are still referred to as miss and master due to their royal associations.

“They remain ‘Miss’ and ‘Master’ currently and I’m told that that is a very clear signal from the King. He’s willing to give those titles, but it comes with a caveat, and that caveat is trust. They have to know that they can trust the family,” she said (via The Times).
