Queen Elizabeth trained her eldest son, King Charles III, for his role as the monarch. For several decades, Her Majesty took her son under her wing until the day finally came for King Charles III to rule the British monarchy. But even though the mother and son worked closely together, this doesn't mean that they were always on the same page.

Queen Elizabeth Reminded King Charles III Who's The Real Boss

In the book The New Royals, royal author Katie Nicholl revealed that Queen Elizabeth showed King Charles III who's the boss during the laying of the wreath at the Cenotaph last year.

At the time, King Charles III told the queen that he and Prince William should be the only two royals to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph. But the then-monarch put her put down and told her eldest son that other members of the royal family like Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and the Duke of Kent should also be given the same privilege, according to Mirror UK.

King Charles III Had Nothing But Wonderful Things To Say About His Mother

Even though King Charles III did not get his way at the time, he didn't take the queen's decision against her. So, when the monarch passed away on Sept. 8, King Charles III had nothing but wonderful things to say about his mother.

"While very young, Her Late Majesty pledged herself to serve her country and her people and to maintain the precious principles of constitutional government which lie at the heart of our nation. This vow she kept with unsurpassed devotion. She set an example of selfless duty which, with God's help and your counsels, I am resolved faithfully to follow. I cannot help but feel the weight of history which surrounds us and which reminds us of the vital parliamentary traditions to which members of both houses dedicate yourselves, with a such personal commitment for the betterment of us all," he said during his address to both Houses of Parliament.

Queen Elizabeth And King Charles III Used To Have A Complicated Relationship

According to People, King Charles III shared a special bond with the queen when she was still alive. But when he was much younger, their relationship was a bit more complicated. After all, the dad of two grew up to be much closer to his grandmother, Queen Mother.

But despite their complicated history, the queen has always been proud of her son, and the same can be said about King Charles III.
