Kim Da Mi successfully established on-screen chemistry with Choi Woo Shik in Our Beloved Summer.
After working in the 2018 action film The Witch, Kim Da Mi and Choi Woo Shik reunited again to work on the hit series, Our Beloved Summer. The romance series, based on Han Kyoung Chal's webcomic, tells the story of Choi Ung and Kook Yeon Su. They were a long-term couple who broke up in high school but reunited again after the documentary they filmed 10 years ago went viral.
The series took a bow on January 25 and gained a 5.3 percent viewership rating after successfully showing a typical but realistic love story between a young couple.
After reaching the peak of success, Kim Da Mi appeared in an interview where she shared her thoughts about working with Choi Woo Shik again.

Kim Da Mi Shares What Made Our Beloved Summer Filming Easy
In a video interview with The Korea Times, she revealed that everything happened smoothly as they had already worked together in the past. She also claimed she could not imagine playing the character if Choi Woo Shik did not score Choi Ung's role.
The actress added that she already enjoyed reading the script, but she realized it would truly be fun after learning that the actor would serve as the other lead.

"After meeting the director and writer, I felt that we can build up synergy to make this series a good one. (The story) had such realistic depiction. There were no dramatic subplots or events, but it delves deeper into each character. I think the viewers loved the series because the story didn't have any villains," she went on.
Her statement resonated with what she told another news outlet during a separate interview, saying that she and Choi Woo Shik are comfortable with each other. Thus, they were able to show fun love through their characters in the series.
Kim Da Mi Have Always Wanted to Try Romance
Our Beloved Summer became a breath of fresh air for Kim Da Mi, who usually portrays intense characters. For what it's worth, she showed her tough side for The Witch and Itaewon Class.
So when she landed on her role in Our Beloved Summer, Kim Da Mi has since crossed out another wish on her list.
"I've always wanted to do a romance, as it's closely related to our daily lives … I wanted to portray a realistic and normal character. So I tried to resonate with the energy that the production set had," she went on.
At the end of the interview, she expressed her desire to work with Choi Woo Shik again in different genres. With their record-breaking on-screen chemistry, they would surely meet again soon.
