Kevin Feige Was Not On Board With James Gunn's F-Bomb in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

You would think Disney or Marvel Studios aren’t on board with the whole dropping the first f-bomb thing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Well, turns out, you’re right.

Marvel Studios has never allowed uncensoring any form of profanity in any MCU film or series, and though Chris Pratt revealed many have previously tried and failed before, he is proud to have his last film breaking MCU history.

“I think everybody’s tried, you know?” Pratt admitted in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, “Everyone’s always lobbying, you know? Throwing out an improv to get it in there.”

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 star added: “For years. It’s not the first one I’ve tried to get into the movie. But yeah, they edited it together and it was a funny beat, and so they kept it.”

When asked about the story behind miraculously having this pass under Marvel and Disney’s radar, Pratt detailed how Marvel boss Kevin Feige tried to talk director James Gunn out of it at first.

“Yeah, apparently, from my understanding, Kevin Feige talked to James Gunn,” Pratt shared, “And said, ‘Listen, you don’t want to be the guy who’s known for having the first F-word in your movie.’”

“And James [Gunn] is like, ‘Yes, I do! Don’t you know me?! That’s exactly what I want!’ And so, they kept it in.” The Star-Lord actor said.

Considering that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is ending their franchise while possibly telling a heart wrenching story about Rocket’s past, a little f-bomb could just as easily make the entire film all the more memorable for the cast and MCU fans.

As to whether there’s a chance Marvel could allow another actual f-bomb in the future, Deadpool 3 and all future Deadpool movies have been previously confirmed to be R-rated.

And if you know Wade Wilson, you already know what you’re in for.

For now, James Gunn’s last Marvel project, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, premieres on May 5.
