Michael Rosenbaum recently revealed that his character Martinex originally had a bigger role in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

The Smallville actor made his MCU debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 where he played Martinex, the first officer of the Stakar Ravager Clan that has a body composed of silicon-isotope crystals.

While the character had a fun presence in the two films he appeared in, Martinex ultimately didn't have a large storyline as he mostly appeared as the right-hand man of Sylvester Stallone's Stakar Ogord.

In a recent convention appearance, Rosenbaum revealed that Martinex originally had a bigger presence in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and 3, but his screen time was edited down.

"I mean, the role was supposed to be a lot bigger. They cut a lot out. Well, you were supposed to see, it was written in the script to see Martinex's powers, which were really cool," he explained.

"But they had so much to talk about in the script that they ended up cutting it out in the end. And there was some other stuff."

Despite his character's reduced role, Rosenbaum was still happy with his experience being part of the MCU films as he was able to work with his friends.

He added, "But it was fun. For me it's like, I'm working with my friends, I get paid, I'm in a big Marvel movie, life could suck worse. You know what I mean? I'm very grateful."

For some fans, it would have been cool if Martinex had a bigger role in the last two Guardians of the Galaxy films due to this unique characteristic that could have made him a compelling on-screen presence.

However, it is also understandable that James Gunn reduced his screen time in the final cut since the character is not a member of the titular team and the pacing might have been bloated if he explored all the supporting players as well within a limited runtime.

Marvel Studios can still explore Martinex and the other Ravager members in a future project if they want to revisit them in a story that is set in the cosmic side of the MCU where we can see the full potential of the characters that are only seen as background players.
