Kate Middleton seems like an expert when it comes to parenting. After giving birth to three children, it goes without saying that she has ample experience raising kids. Of course, she wouldn’t have been able to do so without the help of her husband, Prince William.
In recent months, Prince William and Kate Middleton have been bringing their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, to more royal engagements. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took Prince George to a tennis match. And the royal couple bonded with Princess Charlotte while watching a swim match days ago.
There’s no denying the fact that Middleton’s interactions with her children while they’re out in public are impressive. After all, she rarely becomes upset with them. She also handled Prince Louis’ hilarious antics during the queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June.
Kate Middleton Asked Princess Charlotte To Be Quiet While At Prince Philip’s Funeral Service
But it is what she did to Princess Charlotte during Prince Philip’s funeral service last year that earned her praises from parenting expert, Angela Karanja.
At the time, the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted shushing her daughter. But Karanja said that Middleton did so in a way where she didn’t just correct the young royal. Instead, she also made sure to connect with her only daughter.
“I think what’s important is that Kate did not just correct, i.e. telling Charlotte to ‘shhh’ and be quiet at that pivotal moment, but she took time to connect. Throughout the event, especially notably at the beginning, there were several moments of connection. For example, in the beginning, when the young daughter appears nervous, the mum leans over and whispers something that evidently cheers her up. We notice a lot of connection before correction, which is a powerful and positive parenting skill that I encourage a lot with parents. Also, we don’t see Kate telling Charlotte off angrily. She does the correcting so matter of factly and swift, and as contained and concealed as she could in that public place,” she told Marie Claire.

Kate Middleton Reminded Princess Charlotte That She Could Smile At The Cameras
Also, during Prince Philip’s funeral service, Middleton was spotted whispering something into Princess Charlotte’s ear. After which, the 7-year-old looked more relaxed, and she also started smiling at the cameras.
Lip reader Jacqui Press told Daily Mail that it’s possible for Middleton to have reminded her daughter that she could smile at the cameras. And that’s exactly what the 7-year-old did.
Prince William, Kate Middleton’s Children Underwent Etiquette Training At A Young Age
According to etiquette expert, Myka Meier, Prince William and Middleton’s children have undergone etiquette training even at their young ages.
“Etiquette training for the royals starts as soon as they’re old enough to sit at a table. They are raised having formal meals, going to formal events, and practicing everything from voice levels to dressing appropriately to even, of course, how to curtsy and bow,” she told Express.
This could be another reason why Prince William and Middleton’s children oftentimes look calm and proper when they’re accompanying their parents to royal engagements.
