Woman’s Day New Zealand, in its May 23, 2022 issue, reported that rare panic set in at the palace as Queen Elizabeth continues to battle with her health and mobility issues as the celebrations for her Platinum Jubilee draw in. However, while many courtiers appeared to lose their cool, Kate Middleton was reportedly a pillar of calm.

The better half of Prince William reportedly assured royal aides that everything would be well. Kate Middleton, as per the magazine, allegedly offered to fill in for Queen Elizabeth at a series of engagements, which include handing out the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design at a fashion event and hosting a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
Queen Elizabeth reportedly appreciated the steady presence of Kate Middleton, cementing her place as the royal family’s secret weapon. An unnamed palace insider claimed:
“With Harry and Meghan lobbing grenades from California, the Duke of Edinburgh’s tragic death and Prince Andrew sinking into a vortex of scandal, the upheavals of the past two years have thrown the royals into turmoil.”
The same source added:
“But through all these setbacks and even the worrying decline in the Queen’s health, Kate has emerged with her standing enhanced. Nothing seems to daunt her. There’s that combination of sweetness, inner strength, dazzle, and dignity that have seen her become the most popular – and discreetly powerful – figure in the royal firmament.”
Woman’s Day New Zealand noted that no one is a success in the Windsor clan unless they have the approval and total confidence of Queen Elizabeth – and we’re told Kate Middleton is now part of that small select group that makes big decisions.

The publication’s source stated:
“It hasn’t been easy for her. During her first few years as a royal, Kate often appeared awkward and uncertain. There were stumbles. Nothing had prepared her for the constant scrutiny of royal life.”
It added:
“But in recent years, Kate’s really found her feet. With Charles, Camilla, and Anne all in their seventies, and the Queen scaling back, this is her moment to shine. She’s got that star appeal that’ll keep the monarchy relevant no matter what may happen.”

The Future Of The Monarchy Reportedly Lies In Kate Middleton’s Hands
Meanwhile, earlier this year, Patrick Jephson, the former chief of staff of the late Princess Diana, told The Post that Kate Middleton is what the royal family needs during these challenging times. He said:
“As the Prince Andrew scandal shows, the monarchy is in desperate need of reassuringly conventional royal performers. Catherine is just what these troubles royal times need – it’s no exaggeration that the Windsors’ future lies in her hands.”
It has been months of hell for the royal family after it was announced, in January, that Prince Andrew would spend the rest of his life in the wilderness after being stripped of his HRH and military titles by Queen Elizabeth amid a s*xual assault lawsuit. Of Kate Middleton, UK Daily Telegraph’s fashion director Bethan Holt also said:
“Charles and Camilla don’t seem to have the global pull, and there seems to be this absolute campaign to make William and Kate the family’s global stars. There seems to be a whole royal family operation to elevate the Cambridges.”
An unidentified palace source also told Page Six:
“If Charles and Diana had made a go of it, we wouldn’t be talking like this. Because Charles and Camilla put their own needs and happiness first [having an affair that helped lead to the end of Charles and Diana’s marriage], we are in a continuing constitutional bind that means that William and Kate are the Windsors’ last cards.”
Another unnamed insider claimed there is also a goal of emphasizing the difference between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, saying:
“When Kate came in, she said, ‘I’m going to learn the ropes.’ Meghan said, ‘I’m going to hit the ground running.' Learning the ropes is a lifetime job; hitting the ground running is not the royal style, and for good reason. You have to know who you’re running to — and who’s alongside you.”
Kate Middleton tied the knot with Prince William on April 29, 2011. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge now share three children --- Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3.
