Karen Gillan Teases Potential Jump in DCU as Poison Ivy

It looks like Karen Gillan will wipe off the blue paint as Nebula and assume a new color in the form of green as Poison Ivy for the DC Universe, as the actress teased her potential transfer from Marvel to DC during a recent interview with Total Film.

“I always thought that Poison Ivy was really fun. So maybe something like that would be cool,” she said. “Honestly, if James asked me to play an alien that sits in the background of a shot and doesn’t talk, I would say yes. Because working with him has been one of the great joys of my career so far.”

James Gunn has repeatedly said in the past that he wants to bring the Guardians of the Galaxy team with him as he assumes the post of co-CEO of DC Studios. So far, Gillan is the third Guardian actor to tease a potential jump to DC.

Chris Pratt, who portrays Star-Lord/Peter Quill in the MCU, has also said that he’s open to working with Gunn in the DCU, assuming he will like to play Booster Gold. Dave Bautista also expressed his interest in working with the filmmaker again, especially now that he has retired from his Marvel stint.

So far, a few Marvel stars, including MCU Crossbones actor Frank Grillo, have transferred to DC to work with the Peacemaker creator. In addition to the Avengers: Endgame directors, the Russo brothers also said they would be open to directing any DC project for Gunn.

Gunn’s final contribution to the MCU will hit cinemas in a few days. As of the moment, the cast is doing a promotional tour in different parts of the world. Gillan calls the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise the "gift that keeps on giving," because she didn't think her tenure as Nebula would last very long.

“I was under the impression I was signing up for eight days of filming on the first film. And then it just gradually kept getting extended. And here we are, nine or 10 years later.” she said.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 opens in theaters on May 3 in the UK and May 5 in the US.
