Avengers: Endgame Director Addresses Possibility of Joining the DCU

Avengers: Endgame was one of the biggest movies that Marvel Studios ever released. Of course, the production team, including the directors, is one of the reasons the MCU offering became successful.

The highest-grossing film directors Anthony and Joe Russo also known as the Russo Brothers responded to the question of joining James Gunn and Peter Safran in rebooting the DC Universe.

“We don't get asked a lot about DC characters,” Anthony began. “Obviously James over there running it, it would be a no-brainer,” Joe continued. “We love him to death. We love the direction he's going to take that world in. You know he's gonna be inventive with it.”

At this point, DC fans have no choice but to trust the process as the co-CEOs revamp the cinematic universe, because the first project that will commence the reboot is set to arrive two years from now.

So far, some Marvel stars have followed Gunn to the DC studios, namely David Harbour, Frank Grillo, and Maria Bakalova. With that, it would come as no shock if the Russo brothers did the same.

The first project on the DC slate is Superman: Legacy, which is expected to focus on the younger version of Clark Kent. Just today, Gunn announced that the upcoming Man of Steel film has officially entered pre-production, with costumes, production design, etc. up and running. As for the casting, the audition process is still ongoing.

The Russo Brothers also shared their favorite DC characters. “And favorite DC characters? I mean, man. There are so many good ones. I always answer based on the comics I collected as a kid, and the two comics I collected the most were Spider-Man — actually, the three — were Spider-Man. X-Men and Batman. But there have been a lot of iterations of Batman, so I feel like that's an obvious answer.” said Joe.

Anthony continued, “But, you know, it's hard not to answer that. Here's how you know we haven't actually gotten literal about it and specific about it because, yeah, Batman would be my favorite character for my entire childhood. But obviously, it's been well explored.”

Aside from Matt Reeves' The Batman 2, the co-heads also announced that they are going to helm their Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold. However, no director has been announced yet. Fans can keep their fingers crossed if they want the Russo brothers in the project, or they can speculate about other offerings that they are suitable to work on.
