Hailee Steinfeld Gives Direct Response on Kate Bishop Possible Return

Hailee Steinfeld joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kate Bishop through the Disney+ series Hawkeye. Despite being a new addition to the franchise, she became an immediate favorite of the fans.

Given that Bishop is part of the Young Avengers, MCU fans are expecting that she will return to future projects anytime soon. But when the actress was asked about her character's next appearance, she only said "Maybe" to Entertainment Tonight.

In November, Steinfeld posted a cryptic tweet that some fans took as a hint for a second season of Hawkeye, but following Jeremy Renner’s accident, the series follow-up might take a while to arrive.

However, since the young actress is voicing Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse film that will come out in June, Steinfeld commented on the possibility of Gwen and Bishop meeting up.

“How do I think they’d get along? I think they have quite a lot of similarities. They are both incredibly witty and badass independent young women who have a very strong point of view and are very good at what they do and can take on just about anything. So I’d say they’d get along very well.” she said.

Although the Dickinson star is part of the MCU animated series, most fans are still intrigued by her involvement in the franchise as Bishop. If the circumstances do not permit a second season of Hawkeye, the Young Avengers might pop up in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Additionally, given her friendship with Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bishop might also be expected to make a cameo in the upcoming Marvel film Thunderbolts. Meanwhile, Hawkeye producer Trinh Tran remarked that Bishop is important in the Young Avengers arc.

“Obviously, I can't say much, but there are heroes that have left the MCU and there are new people coming in. I think our focus always is, 'Let's get Kate Bishop right here in this storyline. Let's make sure that what people love about her on paper is going to be translated onto the screen.' And then, we can go from there and see what the future holds. But I think the focus really was to make sure we land her correctly in this series first.” said Tran.

Even if there’s no actual confirmation on which project fans can see Bishop next, the promise of her importance to the franchise is one of the things they can hold on to for now.

All episodes of Hawkeye are streaming on Disney+.
