Jujutsu Kaisen Faces Censorship in Malaysia

The whole fandom of Jujutsu Kaisen recently went alive following the announcement of the second season of its anime show and the prequel film being released globally, however, recent reports got the people asking whether the title itself has been subjected to censorship overseas, notably in Malaysia, where it seems that an ordeal is being faced by the manga.

Jujutsu Kaisen Faces Censorship in Malaysia

Jujutsu Kaisen just released volume 12 across Malaysia brought by Kinokuniya where the pictures of the cover of the manga went viral. However, the manga may be facing some censorship issues since the volume was released with a white sticker covering Mei Mei and readers believe that this is a way to give more modesty to the character. See photo here.

This is not new to the people there, though, as it would not be the first time there had been censorship issues in Malaysia. One of the titles affected then was Attack on Titan where the manga was distributed with the titans are wearing shorts despite having no private parts visible. It went viral as well. Fans would not be surprised whether it would happen to Jujutsu Kaisen, too.

In Kinokuniya’s defense, the volume was wrapped in plastic before being released to stores considering that it has some mature content and the stores put paper inserts inside to cover the chest of Mei Mei. The actual volume is not censored inside, just the cover of it. This was already done in Chainsaw Man so it is nothing new.
