Everyone makes mistakes, even the hardworking mangaka responsible for one of the most popular mangas in circulation these days. Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 181 recently features an error that was significant enough to warrant a clarification from the franchise. Interestingly, Gege Akutami has a hilarious reaction to the correction by the staff!
In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 181, Yuta Okkotsu got 200 points in the Culling Game after defeating Takako Uro and Ryu Ishigori and destroying Dhruv and Kurourushi. However, considering Okkotsu's previous points, the total should have been 190 points. It might seem like a small error but the Jujutsu Kaisen staff were quick to release a correction about the exact total.
So what caused the error? Gege Akutami shared an explanation for making a mistake and it had a lot to do with being hyped up for Okkotsu moving forward in the Culling Game.
"I got a little too excited about giving Okkotsu 200 points and ended up bending the rules. What a huge blunder. I'm sorry for making such a complicated mistake while going on about things even I barely understand," Akutami wrote.
It's great to know that Gege Akutami is quick to accept and apologize for making mistakes. However, it's the last part of the mangaka's explanation that has fans laughing off the error. It's refreshing to have a manga creator admit that they don't even fully comprehend certain aspects in their own work. Needless to say, it will be fun figuring things out with Akutami as the manga progresses.
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 181 also introduced a new character who could be another player in the Culling Game as well as a self-insert figure for Gege Akutami. The new character is Charles Bernard, a French sorcerer who also happens to be a mangaka who doesn't get along with his editor.
