Gege Akutami Trends as Jujutsu Kaisen Fans React to Chapter 181's New Character

Exciting things have been happening in Jujutsu Kaisen as the manga kicks off with the Tokyo No. 2 Colony arc. Not surprisingly, the follow-up to the Sendai Colony arc kicked off in an explosive way as it introduced a new sorcerer. This mysterious new character has also led to fans making Gege Akutami trend on Twitter all weekend!

In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 181, we get to meet Charles Bernard, a French mangaka who is born and raised in Japan. Charles' introduction is something that most creators have to go through. He argues with his editor on how Charles' manga should be depicted and even goes as far as to express his disdain for the man.

It's an attention-grabbing sequence, especially for Jujutsu Kaisen fans who are well aware of all the trouble that Gege Akutami has gone through for his manga. Charles' arrival was immediately perceived as the mangaka's way to insert himself into the story and comment on the way artists are treated by editors and publishers. It didn't take long for fans to continuously tweet about Akutami, causing the term "Gege" to trend on Twitter.

But what could happen to Charles Bernard in Jujutsu Kaisen? A huge chunk of Chapter 181 features Kinji Hakari attempting to recruit the mangaka to the battle against Kenjaku. However, the chapter concludes with Charles challenging Hakari to a fight. Although it is unclear if this will turn out well for either of them, we're hoping to see more of Charles in the next few chapters of the manga.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 181 is simply titled Tokyo No. 2 Colony, Part 1 and it also shows the aftermath of the climactic battles all over the Sendai Colony. Details about Chapter 182 have not yet been revealed. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
