Joo Sang Wook already has his next targets after starring in The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won.

Joo Sang Wook outshined other Korean actors and became the lead star of KBS’ first sageuk drama in five years. The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won became the network’s most recent historical drama after releasing notable period dramas including Immortal Admiral Yi Sun-shin, Hwang Jini, Sungkyunkwan Scandal, Love in the Moonlight, Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, The Tale of Nokdu, and River Where the Moon Rises.

While he has already starred in several dramas of different genres, the actor currently eyes to become part of two different types of series.

In a new interview, Joo Sang Wook spoke highly of the recently wrapped series. The K-drama, which received negative responses after endangering a horse on the series' set, still became a memorable one for the actor.

“I want to try a medical drama. I want to try out something difficult. There’s a lot that I want to do. I also like historical dramas. I will work hard with a new image in a good project that suits my age and greet you again,” he said.

Before The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won, Joo Sang Wook already appeared in several series that are aligned with his desired next project.

He famously joined Good Doctor, Giant, Cunning Single Lady, and Birth of a Beauty, to name a few.

The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won Left Great Impression

Although he wanted to become part of a new project, Joo Sang Wook still could not get over the historical series.

Throughout the drama’s stint, the actor became known for his farewell statements to the actors whose characters died before the series ended. According to the actor, he felt bored and lonely after losing the actors he worked with from the start.

He also said that in The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won’s 32 episodes were seemingly long, but they were not enough to tell the character’s life story.

“As I continued acting towards the end, I felt I was doing it without a cause. Since I was only filming the result without the process, I would brush over things without knowing whether I was right or wrong. I think this is an inevitable condition of a 32-episode production. There were definitely aspects that made viewers think, ‘Why is it like this?'” he explained.

For now, Joo Sang Wook is spending all his time ahead of his special appearance on the tvN drama, Alchemy of Souls.
