James Cameron Teases New Narrator In Avatar 3

James Cameron continues to bask in the success that Avatar: The Way of Water gained over its five weekends in theaters, amid being granted a longer theatrical run. However, as the new year begins, a new Avatar film will soon be in development, which, as Cameron previously teased, will feature fire-wielding Na’vis. Now, according to the Avatar creator, there’s another new aspect waiting for us in Avatar 3.

The first Avatar film and its sequel had both been narrated by the same protagonist, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington). Through the character, we get to see and explore the different regions of Pandora. In the case of Avatar 3 onwards, though, Cameron teased that there will be a different narrator in the subsequent films. Check out his full quote from a recent interview posted by @eywasfavorite on Twitter:

“Lo’ak really emerged as a character that people went with,” Cameron said, “So I might find ways to sort of… now, he’s already the [narrator]- Oh, I’m giving away something here, but it’s okay.”

Cameron continued on to say how the Avatar franchise (particularly from Avatars 3 to 5) will feature a change of pacing, depending on the new film narrator. “Every one of the Avatars… I think it could be intriguing for people to think about what’s coming. Jake was our voiceover narrator for movie 1 and movie 2, and we have a different narrator for each of the subsequent films.”

Eventually, the Avatar creator concluded with teasing that Avatar 3 will be led by Lo’ak (played by Britain Dalton): “And movie 3 is through Lo’ak’s eyes.”

Avatar: The Seed Bearer, the third film, is currently slated for release in theaters on December 20, 2024. Meanwhile, Avatar: The Way of Water is still showing in cinemas worldwide.
