James Cameron Celebrates Avatar 2 For Bringing Theaters Back To Life


The pandemic has certainly limited any form of entertainment that requires human interaction. However, James Cameron celebrates that Avatar: The Way of Water is nearly reaching the $2 billion mark in box office and yet, the Avatar sequel continues to be presented in theaters worldwide, earning the bragging rights for it. The Avatar creator reiterates the box office hit is bringing theaters back to life.

Recently speaking with Variety, Cameron emphasized that “people are going back to theaters' ' because of Avatar: The Way of Water. Apart from its success, Cameron slams streaming services for being the reason people got stuck at home. Now, thanks to the Avatar sequel, the Avatar creator reiterates that “we, as a society, need this.” Check out his full comment below:

“We’re back to theaters. Around the world, people are going back to theaters.” Cameron said, reiterating how big of a deal this is, considering the surge of pandemic continues, “Even going to theaters in China, where they’re having this huge COVID surge. We’re seeing, as a society, we need this. We need to go to movie theaters and have that experience. Enough with the streaming already! I’m tired of sitting on my a**!”

While this doesn’t necessarily mean Avatar: The Way of Water may not appear in streaming services, clearly that isn’t happening any time soon as the sequel continues to thrive in theaters worldwide. There is no doubt that Avatar: The Way of Water’s success at domestic and international box office contributed greatly to getting back to theaters, seeing as even China secured its theatrical release and even doubled its 30-day theatrical run extension!

Avatar: The Way of Water is still showing in cinemas worldwide.
