Avatar 3: James Cameron Shares Details on Fire-Wielding Na'vi Tribe

There is little doubt that the success of Avatar: The Way of Water will lead to the release of more sequels, and James Cameron is already hyping up the next film. Interestingly, the filmmaker shared details about a new tribe of Na'vi that will be introduced in Avatar 3, and it looks like they can wield fire!

James Cameron recently spoke to 20 Minutes and he revealed that Avatar 3 (tentatively titled Avatar: The Seed Bearer) will be darker than its predecessors (via Collider). In addition to that, the sequel will introduce a more aggressive tribe who are not as peaceful as the Meykatina in The Way of Water.

"The fire will be represented by the 'Ash People.' I want to show the Na’vi from another angle because, so far, I have only shown their good sides. In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples," Cameron said.

"In Avatar 3, we will do the opposite. We will also explore new worlds, while continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal," he continued.

At this point, it's obvious that there are several tribes around Pandora who are seen as hostile but moderately accepting of the Sky People. We're not sure why the Ash People have not yet been introduced if they are truly more aggressive than the other tribes but the idea of Na'vi who use fire to their advantage is an interesting one.

Avatar: The Way of Water introduced a new tribe of Na'vi who live on the beaches of Pandora and are adapted to life in the waters. Although Jake Sully, Neytiri, and their children were reluctantly accepted into the Meykatina, there were some hostilities against them.

Avatar: The Way of Water is still screening in theaters worldwide.
