Fans are understandably excited about Thor: Love and Thunder since the sequel is currently in production. But what can we expect in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe flick? Here's everything you need to know about Thor 4.
Thor 4 is currently scheduled for a premiere on May 6, 2022. However, there is a possibility that the film could be moved back if Marvel Studios' 2021 releases will be delayed due to COVID-19. Check this page for updates on the Thor 4 release date.
Production on Thor 4 has only started in January so footage from the film is still very limited. For now, Marvel Studios has not yet announced when the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer will be released. However, there is a possibility it could be dropped during this year's San Diego Comic-Con.
Most of the main cast of Thor 4 was announced at SDCC 2019 while additional cast members were confirmed the following year. Here are the confirmed actors who will appear in the MCU sequel.
Chris Hemsworth as Thor/God of Thunder: The former King of Asgard will be back and is set to go on a new adventure with some new friends as well as some old ones in the film.
Natalie Portman as Jane Foster: Although she was notable absent in Thor: Ragnarok, Jane will return in Thor 4 and is set to become the new God of Thunder.
Tessa Thompson as Scrapper 142/Valkyrie: The former Valkyrie warrior and new King of Asgard is expected to keep her role as ruler but there is little doubt she will be joining Thor on his new adventure.
Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif: Like Jane, Sif was notably absent from Ragnarok due to Alexander's busy schedule. However, it has been confirmed that the Asgardian warrior will return in Thor 4.
Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord: Back in November 2020, it was confirmed that most of the Guardians of the Galaxy will be part of Thor 4. So far, Pratt has been the only name officially announced to join the film but there is a possibility that the other Guardians like Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, and Vin Diesel will show up as well.
Taika Waititi as Korg: The Ragnarok director has confirmed that he will return as the Kronan gladiator who joined Thor and left Sakaar.
The latest update on the Thor 4 cast suggests that Matt Damon will reprise his role as Actor Loki, or Fake Loki from Thor: Ragnarok. It was previously reported that Damon and his family have arrived in Sydney and are currently quarantining before he can begin working on the film. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
Christian Bale will play the villainous Gorr the God Butcher in Thor 4. Bale's casting was initially confirmed by Thompson in March 2020 but it wasn't until December that his villainous role was confirmed. Love and Thunder will be Bale's first Marvel film.
Thor 4 will take place after the events in Avengers: Endgame. However, the official timeline has not yet been confirmed so it is unclear whether the sequel will take a major time jump or follow the heroes directly after Tony Stark's death.
