What Happened to Rex in Invincible Season 2 Episode 5?
Invincible season 2 episode 5 begins with Mark's return to his world and friends before culminating in a bloody battle between Dupli-Kate and Komodo Dragon.
The new episode reaches its climax with Komodo Dragon killing Dupli-Kate and Shrinking Rae before Rex Splode saves the day by slaying the supervillain.
However, Rex is now also presumed dead, alongside Dupli-Kate and Shrinking Rae.
While other superheroes in the Image Comics universe later return, including Dupli-Kate herself, Rae is killed off for real and does not come back in the comics.
Does Rex Die In the Invincible Comics?
Defeating Komodo Dragon comes at a great cost, with Rex losing an arm, but he's able to survive the conflict this time.
Unfortunately, he's not as lucky in later issues of the Invincible comics.
During the series' Invincible War arc, an alternative, evil Mark Grayson threatens our heroes.
Letting his friends get to safety, Rex Splode stays behind and faces evil Mark.
Using his powers, he ignites his own skeleton, essentially making himself a bomb.
The explosion kills both Rex and evil Mark.
Superheroes who return from a seemingly deadly fate are very common, but, in this case, Rex's survival seems unlikely.
At least, his death isn't something we expect to see in the second season of Invincible.
The Invincible War arc happens later in the comic so it would probably be a matter of a third season.
