Is Quentin Tarantino Going To Adapt An Old Episode Of Star Trek For His Movie?

Director Quentin Tarantino is known for his violent movies filled with quick-fire banter, but a genre he's never touched before is definitely sci-fi; that's why everyone was shocked to hear that he's developing a Star Trek movie with J.J. Abrams. The curious thing is, does Tarantino already have a story in mind?

During a 2015 interview with The Nerdist Podcast (via ScreenRant), Tarantino had said:

"You could take some of the great classic Star Trek episodes and easily expand them to ninety minutes or more and really do some amazing stuff!"

One particular episode that Tarantino pointed out was The City on the Edge of Forever which is regarded as one of the best episodes in Trek. The episode had McCoy travelling back in time and altering history so that the Nazis won World War II. Tarantino had said, "The only thing that limited them was their '60s budget and eight-day shooting schedule," but with the movie in the works, he'll have the resources to tell a bigger and more complicated story.

As it stands, the sequel to Star Trek Beyond is kind of up in the air, and even the principal actors have expressed that they have no idea when they'll get to work on it. With a big name like Tarantino on board though, Paramount would want to speed up the process of a new Trek movie. I just hope they keep with the actors we already know in the Kelvin timeline.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the rebooted Trek movies, and I think they have been kicking Star Wars' ass compared to the prequels. Hopefully we get more updates on Tarantino and Abrams' upcoming Trek film soon.
