Netflix saved the most spectacular Black Mirror Season 4 trailer for last, and it was worth the wait. It's the trailer for the Star Trek-themed episode U.S.S. Callister, and it's the episode I'm looking forward to seeing the most. The scenes are obviously inspired by Gene Roddenberry's classic science fiction franchise with the added comedy, of course, but since this is Black Mirror, there's probably going to be some mind-blowing twists.

YouTube user Endogenes Retrovirus made an interesting guess about what that twist might involve:

"I think the twist on this is going to be that everything is just a TV show or a video game, but the main characters are not aware of it. Sort of like the Truman Show. This episode will probably be a take on our increased addiction to digital entertainment and the ethical boundaries we are willing to cross for it."

The 74-minute episode stars former Fargo stars Cristin Melioti and Jesse Plemons, with Michaela Coel (Chewing Gum) and Jimmi Simpson (Westworld). The episode is directed by Sherlock and Doctor Who alum Toby Haynes and co-written by William Bridges. Producer Annabel Jones recently described USS Callister during an interview with The Independent.

"‘USS Callister' is a space opera. The challenges of trying to create that world, and obviously getting to play with the genre, opened a whole new opportunity," Jones said "But I think we've put a clever spin on it. It's a romp – it's big and ambitious with lots of CG. It's an absolute visual feast and really high octane. There are obviously more unsettling, poignant and slightly more melancholic moments, but at the same time, it is a romp. It's such a treat for a filmmaker to be making a film this epic."

Fans were hoping to see a release date attached to this trailer but sadly, Netflix hasn't revealed the official premiere date. Black Mirror Season 4 is expected to premiere early 2018. You can check out the trailers for Metalhead,Arkangel, Black Museum, and Crocodile.
