What makes Platinum End different from other anime shows on the roster of the seasons wherein it belongs to is that it deals with something beyond what is seen. There are a lot of messages that come through the show that, while not being expressly given, some things are implied within the characters and their actions.

The show makes one realize what power can do to a person, how to deal with death, and some things in the philosophical limbo that ethics and morality play in between. It may look dark at some point but there is an underlying message that the show wants to get through to the audience. The champions are given the freedom of choice which comes with a huge responsibility of possibly being the next god.

Platinum End does not live up to the expectations it has on its back and, therefore, many found it underwhelming. People are excited to see what Platinum End has to offer considering that its creator is the same as that of Bakuman and Death Note which are two of the biggest shows of their own time. The hype immediately died when the series aired.

It could be noted that the anime show has a lot of shortcomings when it comes to the story and the characters. Some over-shine others while some are considered as main characters, they were not given a proper avenue for their own narrative. For example, Metropoliman had been the central villain of the story for most of the show but when his arc ended, a new villain felt rushed and with only a few episodes left, it wasn’t enough.

Also, pertaining to the same character, he was too centralized on more than two-thirds of the anime show and his ending right in the middle of the second part of the season makes it really underwhelming. His arc could have been done exactly in the middle of the show, but then, tons of shenanigans were present, his motives were too obvious, as well.

If you were asked, do you think Platinum End is worth watching or not?

Platinum End closes the curtains on March 25, 2022, and it will be airing via Crunchyroll and Funimation.
