Melanie is definitely one of the biggest players in the survival of humanity in the thrilling series of Snowpiercer and she had so many contributions to saving some of the population of Earth. In the second season, while she was found guilty of faking Mr. Wilford’s existence, she proved her worth in sacrificing herself to map out the spots on the planet where it is slowly heating up.
Is Melanie Still Alive in Snowpiercer Season 3?
From the start, Melanie played a major role in the story. In the first season, it was revealed that she faked having Mr. Wilford aboard when she really left him after he stole the credits of the creation of the ever-perpetual train that would, later on, be the arc that saves the remainder of humanity after the Earth froze seven years ago due to a failed global-warming experiment.
She managed to man the train for seven years, fooling everyone aboard that Mr. Wilford sends to her instructions. Her co-pilots or co-train drivers were the only ones who know about her agenda and they were her co-engineers as well. She knows the train as the back of her hand and when the people found out that she was just faking it all, it was a massive riot.
In Season 2, Melanie had to pay for what she did and Layton took over the leadership of the train but just when they are about to start over, the real Mr. Wilford appears and it turns out Melanie’s child is still alive and became Wilford’s new engineer as they aboard the prototype of the train. Melanie continues to contribute to science.

In the end of the second season, she went to a remote station to launch drones to determine which regions of Earth are slowly heating up. When the team had to fetch her, she can no longer be found but she left behind her research to give them a map of where the people could start over again in life on the ground.
In the end of the first episode of Season 3, a woman in a red suit was seen at the reactor where Ben fell. The woman attacked Layton and it seems that she has knowledge on how the reactor works which means that she has knows the science behind how to make it function. It is possible that she is Melanie but why did she attack Layton in the first place? Could she be another person?
